ICT: IT’S A BIG HELP

            From first year to fourth, one of our curriculum as a special science class student is for having an ICT subject. ICT subject talks about the different things that we need to learn about computer. From first to second year, we learned about the different applications that we can do in the computer. We experienced also to have an activity about typing (I forget the name). This is a great help for us beginners especially for those who are slowly to type just like me. As I entered my third year life, we learned about accounting. We learned the different applications that we need to use in making a journal. Our teacher also is a great help for me. A great help in a fact that she is an understanding, lovable and a joker teacher. She treats me as her own daughter. I still remember when she gave me a “pasalubong” when she went to Baguio. Now, another year has been started. New things to be discover, a new teacher and a  new experienced to treasure. Fourth year life is one of the saddest part in high school life in a fact that we were leaving our beloved Alma Mater. In this year, ICT has been contributed a lot in developing myself especially in manipulating computers. In the first place, I thought ICT IV is a hard subject but I realized that I make a mistake. ICT is a very enjoyable and challenging subject caused it deals with different applications such as the HTML and what we call Adobe Photoshop. ICT IV brought me new knowledge on how to manipulate computers. And I am so much thankful because this subject is a great help for me. In addition to that, I would like also to thank our teachers, Mrs. Evelyn Vera Cruz and Mr. Daren Lived our practice teacher who guided us to make our activity correct. ICT IV is a great or big help for me.

MY DREAM: MY FUTURE

Everyone of us in this world has ambitions or dreams that we want to achieve someday. Dreams that we consider as our aspiration to face all the challenges or obstacles that comes along our way.

            When I was in elementary, I dreamed to become a nurse. A nurse in the essence that I want to help people with disease. A nurse because I want to serve people with my entire hearth, life, soul and mind without asking anything in return. As time passes by, as I entered on a higher level of education, many things have changed. Changed in a fact that I don’t know what I will be taking up after I graduated. Through the advice of my parents, friends and relatives, I decide to take up Education. As I enter to my high school life and as I saw my teachers, I thought in my mind that someday I will e like them. To become a teacher is my one and ultimate dream in life. I want to help children’s who cannot afford by their parents to sustain their educational fees. A teacher because I adore my teachers who are always there to teach, understands, love and bond with us in times of hardship. I want to become a teacher because I love to teach small children’s.

            This is a very challenging and difficult part of our lives. In this phase or chapter, we can encounter different obstacles, challenges and trials that will test our strength. I cannot say that this dream will come true but I will do my best to reach this dream with the help of my parents, friends and of course to our Almighty God who created us in this world.

2012 Kannawidan Ylocos Festival: Preserving Ilocos Sur culture

VIGAN CITY, Feb. 20 (PIA) — The Kannawidan Ylocos Festival on January 29 to February 5, 2012 drew local and foreign tourists as more entertaining events had been included in the celebrations.

Now on its 5th year, the Kannawidan Ylocos Festival had already established its identity as the prime festival of the province. The festival was launched in 2008 under the leadership of then Governor Deogracias Victor B. Savellano to commemorate the 190th foundation day of Ilocos Sur as separate province through the approval of a Spanish Royal Decree on February 2, 1818.

“Through this “Kannawidan Ylocos Festival, we are preserving and sustaining our old traditions, attractive products and practices as we are also promoting our tourism industry,” Savellano said.

According to Governor Luis Chavit Singson, the province has a rich heritage and unique cultures that need to be preserved for the next generations. However, many of these traditions, songs, dances and other Ilocano cultures were not already familiar to the younger generations due to the influence of the television, computer and internet.

“But,  through  our Kannawidan Ylocos Festival, these traditions, customs and cultures are revived to become more entertaining to give more fun and attractions to the visiting tourists in the province,” Singson said.

“Through our Kannawidan Ylocos Festival, which is the official annual festival of the province our tourism industry was enhanced and helped boost the demand of our products, more job opportunities and livelihood opportunities were crated and more income for our people were generated,” he added.

The 2012 Kannawidan Ylocos Festival opened with a concelebrated mass held at the St. Paul Metropolitan Cathedral followed by a procession of the patron saints of the 40 parishes including the images of Jesus Christ and Virgin Mary around the province’s capital city in the afternoon of on January 29. .

Reverend Father Roque Reyes, who officiated the mass, said that the mass and the procession were the acts of thanksgiving to the God almighty for the blessings received by the province and the exhibition of the strong religious belief of the Ilocano families.

After the procession, a dinner for all was enjoined to all bystanders, tourists and visitors at Plaza Salcedo followed by fireworks display to signify the formal start of the different events of the weeklong festival.

On same night, the members of the Bayanihan Dance Company entertained the Ilocanos with their world class performance of the Beauty of the Philippines through dances, music and sounds. Their graceful movements and excellent rendition of songs and playing the indigenous musical instruments drew attractions from the crowd.

On the following day, a traditional opening ritual was performed by the students of the Ilocos Sur Special High School for Culture and the Arts in Suyo, Ilocos Sur. Vice Governor Savellano and the officials of the Department of Education Division of Ilocos Sur signified the start of the different contests for elementary and high school students. These include traditional tribal rituals, choir and glee club competition, marching band contest, traditional music ensemble, dance drama, traditional and folk dances, contemporary dance competition and street dancing showdown. These events aimed to encourage young Ilocanos to learn these indigenous songs and dances for sustainability and preservation.

Partuat ken Patanor Trade and Agri Fair also opened on the same day. Officials from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) headed by Thelma Dumpit Murillo graced the occasion.

The trade and agri fair displayed all products from the different towns of the Ilocos Sur and its nearby provinces. The annual “Pinaka Contest” was also held to give citations the local farmers’ extraordinary farm and fishery products and livestock.

Reflection

………third quarter is a nice and interesting. In this quarter I learned many things. I learned the different HTML tags, Formatting Tags, Attribute tags and many more. I also learned how to make a web design. Web design is hard to do but I try to become patient in order to finish it.

………one of the problems that I encountered is in making our activities. I am not expert using a computer so it is a big problem for me. Another thing is that in making a web design. It so hard for us beginners because we don’t know what to do.

………I address this challenge by approaching my classmates to help me in doing this thing. I sacrifice my time just to finish the web design. Not at all times my classmates are there to teach so I do it all alone.

……..Moving on, I will do my best. I promise to make all the drafts that our teacher required us to do. I will practice more using a computer to enhance more my ability and knowledge.

A New Year: A New Me

          2011 has been ended.......a new year has come. Its already 2012.
          As 2012 begins, I promise to myself it to turn a new leaf. 2011 is a very crucial but enjoyable year because of different obstacles and challenges that happened. As 2012 enter, I make a resolution or promise to obey. One is that I will change my bad attitudes, my laziness and my cruelness. I know sometimes I hurt the feelings of others because of my bad attitudes. I promise to myself that I will study hard to attain my goals in life. I also promise to make myself kind and not to hurt the people I love especially to my parents and my special someone. I will also try my best to make people happy.
           2011 is very memorable day but its the time to move on........move on and change the wrong things that I've done.

Keeping in Mind our Mother Tongue

          Our country was subdivided into seventeen regions. Each regions have their own cultures and traditions that makes them rich and popular. Ilocos Region are well known for it's well known language- Iloco language. Iloco language is a very interesting language. it is nice and easy to learn. Our dialect has a very important role to our lives. This serves us our trademark that symbolizes who we are andusi what place did we came from. But as time passes, our dialect are diminishing. Many of us are not using it. Many of us said that Iloco dialect is hard to understand and read. Iloco dialect is a dialect that is easy to learn. it depends upon the people if he/she internalize the importance of this dialect. To my fellow Ilocanos, let us bind together, use frequent our dialect to enrich our own dialect, cultures and traditions.

Essence of Christmas

          December has come. Everyone of us are now excited to celebrate the yuletide season or known as Christmas. Christmas is a very significant occasion in life of everyone of us. in this occasion, we celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. As the ber months arrive, many of us are decorating their houses with bright and wonderful christmas lights, christmas tress, lanterns and many more.For us Filipinos, we are practicing our tradition to have a food during the midnight of christmas. But what is the true essence of christmas? Christmas is the time of giving, sharing, loving, forgiving and many more. christmas is the time for giving because in this season, we give those things that we have to those people who are in need. christmas is the time for forgiving. forgiving in the fact that many of us forgive those people who commit sin to them. They forget it as nothings happen.Food is useless if most of us do not internalize the true essence of christmas. Christmas is the time for giving, sharing, forgiving and loving.

A NEW BEGINNING

All of the things here on earth are not permanent. All of these change. It changes for the better and sometimes for bad. And all of us here on earth can do changes in ourselves that makes a true person and to know who truly we are.

          One of the biggest problems in our country is the poor quality of education due to lack of budget, lack of school facilities and most of all lack of teachers. Another is that many of the Filipinos are not enter to school because they cannot sustain the needs in school due to their poorness. They have no money because their parents have no job enough money to sustain it. In that case the budget for education is not totally for educational facilities but for the pouch of some government officials. And this is the reason why our country is still suffering from poverty.

          Make change. Stop illegal doings. Build schools for a better quality of education. Job for the jobless to sustain the needs of everyone.
